Four Benefits of Hosting the Passing the
Baton Workshop
1. It helps you reach your spiritual formation goals.
The Passing the Baton Workshop is based directly on the teachings of
Jesus. Teachers discover how to disciple their students in a natural and fun
way, and that makes a life-long impact. We measure the results of every
workshop through a pre-test and a post-test. By the end of the workshop
teachers from our client schools are significantly more likely to*:
- Feel comfortable as opposed to ill
at ease in mentoring others.
- Feel bold as opposed to intimidated
in mentoring others.
- Feel willing as opposed to reluctant
in mentoring others.
- Agree with the statement, “For me,
discipleship is a natural way to influence others.”
- Agree with the statement, “I am
comfortable mentoring others.”
- Agree with the statement, “I believe I
have what it takes to disciple others.”
2. Teachers
like it.
Let’s be honest: many teachers
dread in-service workshops for a variety of reasons. After the Passing the Baton Workshop, though, teachers
say things like:
“A real chance to learn how to be a
coach and mentor in an intentional and natural way and overcome the usual
fears of discipleship.” DP, King's Academy, CA
“It will help equip you to pass
your faith to the next generation. Why spend your life and waste it
entirely on yourself?” RY, Atmore Christian School,
AL
“Passing the Baton was a blessing.
It was biblically based, relevant, and most importantly, I will use the
principles as I endeavor to prepare young people for service in the Kingdom of God.” PL, Covenant Christian
Academy, TX
3. It
offers a biblical approach to discipleship-oriented education.
Administrators like the fact that the
Passing the Baton Workshop doesn’t ask
teachers to “pastor” or “parent” the children, but to embrace their unique
calling as “discipling educators.”
Renny Scott, Headmaster of
Christian Heritage School in Dalton,
GA says:
“This was the most productive,
informative, and inspiring in-service we have had in my ten years at Christian
Heritage School. One teacher went home and shared what she had learned with
her husband. They turned of the TV and spent the evening speaking of Christ.
Another teacher walked into the office of an administrator to tell her how it
had impacted him. They both ended up on their knees interceding for each other
and the school. You could feel the difference in the spiritual atmosphere at
the start of the school!”
4. It
makes a difference in the lives of students.
North Raleigh
Christian Academy
in Raleigh, North Carolina, was the first school to host
the Passing the Baton workshop. More than a year after the workshop, NRCA’s
superintendent, Dr. S. L. Sherrill, arranged for a Spiritual Formation Audit to
be conducted of his school. He said:
“We continue to see great enthusiasm for having a life-on-life influence
on students. Our teachers are intentionally mentoring students and the students
are being changed. Recently, a Spiritual Formation Audit demonstrated that
what the teachers learned in the Passing
the Baton workshop has affected
students powerfully. One student said, 'Our teachers serve as caring
role models and mentors by involving themselves in the lives of their
students and modeling a Christian lifestyle.'
I would highly recommend the Passing
the Baton workshop to any school or church that wants to unite the hearts
of the older and younger generations and pass the baton of faithfulness.”
