No, that's not a picture of a bush. It's a picture of the Internet--more specifically, what on-line networks look like if you draw lines in between each website.
Notice how the picture is darker or denser in places. Those are called "network hubs." If you have a small website but can tap into one of those hubs, you'll be at the intersection when a lot of Internet traffic comes by. That's why, for example, many small companies have succeeded by buying ads on Google.
When it comes to influencing the next generation, your reach is expanded if you are part of a network of other influencers.
Let's say, for example, that you are mentoring someone who wants to go into politics. You may not have any political contacts yourself, but suppose you were part of a network of people interested in influencing the next generation, and one of the other members of that network is involved in training young people to get involved in politics. By knowing that person you tap into his or her extensive network of political connections.
Now imagine being part of a global network committed to equipping the next generation of culture-shaping leaders. The people in charge would alert you first about new resources, strategies and training opportunities. Plus, you could do "advanced searches" in the network to find others committed to equipping the next generation, and you could find them by where they live, the kind of work they do, their academic interests, their issues of interest, even their hobbies.
Welcome to the Passing the Baton Super-Network. Thanks to generous donors, we are able to provide at no charge the service we've just described.
Of course, you'll still have to be discerning--just because people are members doesn't mean they're infallible. But there is wisdom in a multitude of counselors, and by God's grace we will have a multitude of them!
